Laos Continuing Medical Education in 2023

Family Medicine Specialist Training has been restructured and is now a 3 year program starting with the 17th graduating year.

 

  • University Health Sciences, Vientiane
  • Year 2 - Provincial Hospital Placement
  • Year 3 - District Hospital with Community Placement
  •  

Highlights include:

  • Updating accreditation requirements including evaluations and testing
  • CEX Exams (evaluation of trainee /patient interaction in clinical setting
  • Updating the evaluation and training logbook to reflect updated curriculum
  • Including teaching and learning sessions with Case Studies and related topics
  • Evaluating professionalism and behavior

 

 Other Current Initiatives

 

*Upgrade skills and provide specialty training (surgery, pediatrics,gynecology, internal medicine, others) to rural family medicine specialists

 

* Professional Development Education events provide ongoing medical education for the Family Medicine graduates . This includes the Annual Continuing Medical Education event bringing Laos Family Medicine Specialists together to attend workshops and collaborate with their peers. click here

 

* Maternal and Child Health training including the Helping Babies Breathe, Helping Mothers Survive, Pre-Eclampsia/ Eclampsia, Bleeding After Birth.
